  • Geeta / 195,66 € anually

    Geeta, a Dalit who hails from the Banda district of Uttar Pradesh. She left her husband 10 years back and has been living with her children. Our NGO got this case when she was facing domestic violence. Geeta went back to her husband after an agreement between her and her husband was reached through the help of our NGO. But soon after her husband threw her along with the children out of his house. Geeta has been working at a school in the cleaning staff which brings her a very low income. She is unable to carry on with the case she filed against her husband as she is economically weak. She needs legal support to carry on with the case and to educate her daughter.

  • Aziza / 311 € anually

    Aziza comes from Khaipaar and she was married too Shahzade 8 years back. Just after their marriage, she faced dowry-related mental, physical and sexual violence. Ajiza tolerated all this for a long time and while suffering from the violence she gave birth to 2 children. She was beaten harshly by her husband while she was pregnant with her 2nd child and was thrown out of the house. After this, she went to the court and filed a case.
    Currently she is bringing up her children by sewing clothes and tailoring. She needs legal support to keep fighting her case against her husband and support for the education her children and herself, as tailoring gets a very little amount of money which can only help them to survive and nothing other than that.

  • Laxmi /1163 € anually

    Laxmi hails from a village called ‘Dehraw’ which is situated in the Banda district. She got married in 2017 and shifted to ‘Lodhipur Nevada’ village in Hamirpur district. Various members of her husband’s family had been assaulting her regarding dowry since right after the wedding involving verbal and physical abuse. Laxmi had been suffering and taking all the abuse without any complaints. One day, her husband took her to Hamirpur on the pretence that his brother has invited them over. On arrival, her husband, brother-in-law and sisters-in-laws beat her till she was unconscious and then threw her off the 2nd floor. Miraculously, Laxmi survived but broke her pelvis. In order to avoid legal accountability, her husband admitted her to the hospital for treatment. Hearing their daughter’s condition, the parents rushed to the hospital in Hamirpur, but the husband’s family had disappeared to ensure that they wouldn’t have to pay any medical bills for Laxmi. Laxmi’s family tried to contact them desperately regarding her care multiple times but did not receive any response. Laxmi’s helpless parents have brought her back to Dehraw, but do not have the funds required for her treatment. They are in extreme distress, especially amidst Laxmi’s worsening
    state day by day, with the ultimate scare of her becoming paralyzed in case she is unable to seek medical help soon. Furthermore, despite an FIR against her husband’s family, the law has not taken any action and the guilty continue to roam free. Laxmi requires immediate medical and legal help.

  • Abhilasha /133 € anually

    Abhilasha comes from Naraini. She is 12 years old. She told an Anganwadi worker that her father does obscene gestures and activities which is why she doesn't want to live with him. The Anganwadi worker told our NGO about the girl and the whole situation. The NGO because of her young age was able to send Abhilashala to her sister's house with the help of the police. Soon after she started staying with her sister and brother-in-law,
    she felt uncomfortable and unsafe around her brother-in-law. So, she didn't want to stay there. Abhilashala started staying at the NGO. Vanangana admitted her to a Kasturba school but will be unable to give her a bright future. Abhilasha needs your support for education, maintenance and shelter.

  • Maya / 612 € anually

    Maya hails from a village in the district of Banda. She was married 20 years back in M.P. Maya and one of her sisters were married in the same household. They were often beaten badly in demand of dowry but one day their in-laws poured kerosene oil on her sister and set her on fire. Maya was told to not give a statement in court by her husband. She refused to listen to her husband and as a result was kicked out of the house. She along with her 4 children started living with her parents but when living their also became difficult, she made a jhopdi on a piece on land that her father owned and started living there. she started making kauchhas (broom) for a living as she was dalit and thats what she had learnt to do Maya is feeding herself and her children by working as a labourer. during the day and making brooms at night. Vanangana helped in filing cases against her husband under section 494, 489 and 125(3) but Maya is incapable of lobbying over the cases and she needs legal support.

  • Noorjahan / 595 € anually

    Noorjahan- hails from Banda. She was married 45 years ago to Bhurekha. When Noorjaan didn’t get pregnant after 10 years of their marriage, both husband and wife had fights regarding this matter anf her husband wanting to do a second marriage. While the fighting was going on Bhurekha had an affair with another woman who soon got pregnant. When Noorjahan got to know about this, she talked to the woman’s family and got her husband and the woman who he had an affair with marry each other. At home, they lived together and Noorjahan took care of the child. It went well for sometime but soon after both women started having arguments and fights. One day Bhurekha along with her second wife beat Noorjahan and she stayed at someone else’s home that day and many days after that. When the harassment and fight didn’t stop, Noorjahan left and went to her brother’s home. When Vanangana received this case, our team tried to settle the matter by calling Noorjahan husband. However, he wasnot ready to take her back or give her any money. After which, we went to the court and filed a complaint against Noorjahan’s husband. Noorjahan lived with her brothers for some time but soon they also stopped supporting her. Now, Noorjahan is 60 years old and physically not in a condition to work. The case is going on but Noorjahan has received nothing. We need your support to help Noorjahan sustain herself and carry on with her case.
